Pilates

We specialise in Pilates rehabilitation and have a range of pilates classes to suit all ages and abilities.

Each class is taught by a Chartered physiotherapist trained with the APPI (Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute). Pilates is a moderate form of exercise that can improve balance, flexibility, circulation, posture and help you to relax. Pilates is similar to yoga but with a greater focus on strengthening the core abdominal and back muscles. Traditional Pilates was developed in the 20th Century by Joseph Pilates, for fit and healthy people. The programme focuses on the core postural muscles, which help keep the body balanced and are essential for providing support for the spine. In particular, Pilates exercises teach awareness of breathing and alignment of the spine, head, neck and shoulder blades. It incorporates strengthening of the deep abdominal muscles, which are particularly important to alleviate and prevent back pain. Pilates can be beneficial for just about everyone, regardless of age and fitness level.

“They have really improved my bad posture and I have also had accupuncture and physio for my bad neck, I cannot fault it, the staff are qualified and really keep your positioning in check, highly recommended.”
